A lot of people know Psy for his crazy antics and wildly popular MVs, but did you know he's also a huge charity donator? It's been belatedly revealed that Psy had donated 500 million won (over $430,000 U.S.) to Yonsei University's Severance Children's Hospital!
According to the Severance Hospital on November 12 KST, Psy donated 500 million won back in September, and on November 1, 2014, the 'Psy Care Ward' was created and officially opened for use.
Because of that donation, 5,000 kids were able to receive mental and language care over the past year. Psy had made the donation from what he earned from the album sales for 'Gentleman'.
The representative for the hospital told Yonhap News on November 12, "In September of last year, Psy donated 500 million won to the mental department, and a 'Psy Care Ward' was created. When many are using the room, there can be over 30 kids at once, but on average, about 10 to 20 kids use the room at any given day."
The rep added, "Over the year, Psy has quietly come in to see it in operation and left. He didn't want his donation to be revealed, so it wasn't revealed until now."
The 'Psy Care Ward' is not about individual treatment, but focuses on group psychological programs. There are various programs including one for ADHD and another for linguistics and communication.
