Virtually all girl groups go through dieting before each comeback, and rookie group Oh My Girl is no different. They just made their comeback with "Closer" and dieted for this round of promotions as well.
But member JinE was reported to have taken it too far and was sent to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with anorexia. In an interview with TVReport, she talked about her scary experience.
During the interview, the members were asked about their album preparations, and they revealed, "Dieting was the hardest."
JinE shared her reason for dieting so much by explaining, "I'm usually the type that gains weight easily. During our last promotions, I saw a photo of myself and it provoked me."
JinE had lost 9 kg (nearly 20 pounds) in two months. But she had an adverse reaction and thus required medical care.
She shared, "I wanted to show a pretty side of myself during our 'Closer' promotions. That's why I recklessly starved myself, and chose protein-centered meals. I of course worked out too. I lost about 8-9 kg (17-20 pounds). But as I ate, and then didn't eat, I developed esophagitis."
JinE and all the staff in her company were shocked when she developed vomiting symptoms. Everyone knew that rather than losing weight, JinE's health came first. She ended up quitting her diet and started eating healthier. Through medical care, her esophagitis was completely healed. JinE is now said to eat properly and has instead increased her exercising.
She concluded on a positive note, "I will show a bright side of myself on stage. If I'm hurting, it worries a lot of people. From now on, rather than an unreasonable diet, I will healthily take care of my body."

We think she was pretty brave to admit this in public, and we're so relieved to hear that she's healthier now. What are your thoughts?
